Mark Your Calendar: "The Writing's on the Wall" on Aug. 23

A collaboration by Renda Writer and Gina Bentivegna

The Writing's on the Wall, an art exhibition in which Renda Writer, a poet and artist who has had a very long and involved relationship with yellow legal pads and blue ink, will exhibit and offer for sale all of his writings, some of which have been incorporated into collaborations with other local artists.

In keeping with the theme, the entire floor of the gallery will be painted like a yellow legal pad and feature a collaboration of Renda Writer's handwritten poetry and Chan Shepherd's art. Other collaborating artists include Invi, DC One, Niki Lopez, Jeff Dekal, Mo Brenner, David Mann, Rei Ramirez, Sole Del Real, Kimmie Lovin, Craig McInnis, Carlos Solano, Jonathan Fields, Cierra Robinson, Gina Bentivegna and Byron Keith Byrd, all of whom created art based on Writer's words.

The exhibition will also feature music by DJ Stevie D and visitors may buy food truck edible, H2Yo water or a copy of Coping Mechanism, a book of Writer's handwritten poetry accompanied by illustrations by INVI.  Oh, and Renda will also introduce his new jewelry line.

The show opens 6 p.m. Aug. 23 and runs through Sept. 30 at ActivistArtistA Gallery,
