6th Street Container in Little Havana is looking at work.

The Art Place Wynwood has announced a call to artists for a painting show juried by three professional artists for a show that will open July 13 in Wynwood and remain on exhibit for three weeks. Best-in-show will receive $1000, a 2013 solo show at The Art Place Wynwood and representation for a year. Deadline is June 5 and selected participants must pay a $100 participation fee. Project Fine Art in Fort Lauderdale is looking for artists to provide samples of their work and info about themselves for consideration for future exhibitions.

Artist as Entrepreneur Institute will be presented in four full-day Saturday sessions at ArtSereve in Fort Lauderdale starting on June 2. The lowdown on the event according to the press release: "The AEI is a course of study designed to assist individual artists of all disciplines (visual, musicians, writers, media, theater, performing arts) by cultivating and advancing their business skills, and is designed at strengthening their operating infrastructure and expanding their businesses. The course has been refreshed this year with a new format, and new modules. To date, 300 South Florida artists have graduated from the Institute. AEI will be offered as 20 classes convening during full-day sessions (9 am. to 6 p.m.) on June 2, 9, 16, 2012 and a Business Plan Clinic and Workshop on June 23, 2012 (9 a.m. to 2 p.m). Calling all steampunk artists
∗ Vaughn Reynolds has issued a call to artists for the Steampunk Gallery Show. Submission deadline is Aug. 29.

∗ Uncommon Gallery is looking for volunteers in exchange for exhibition space.

∗ Art Live 2012, a benefit for Lotus House, is accepting exhibitor applications through June 1.

Legal Art Miami is accepting applications for a 2013 LegalArt residency. Deadline for entries is Sept, 2.

Artist's Haven in Fort Lauderdale is accepting entries for its 2012 International Juried fine Art Painting Competition through May 13.

Locust Projects reviews proposals throughout the year for individual artist exhibitions, collaborative projects and curated exhibitions of site-specific and experimental art. Here's a link to details on the info they're seeking from artists.  

Life Is Art is partnering with Robin Rile Fine Art to produce a contemporary art show that will be held June 23 at Villa Sehres, a two-story venue with a pool and courtyard in Miami Beach. The two-part indoor-outdoor art event will feature an invitation-only portion targeted to art collectors and buyers from 4-7:30 p.m. and will include soft music, light beverages and a "focus on art sales and educating buyers on the quality of work available from south Florida artists." The second part, which runs 7:30 to 11 p.m. is a public event designed "to expose young professional potential art collectors to the work produced in South Florida.. A $20 door donation will be collected at the door and the evening a band, sponsored bar and snacks.

In it's announcement, Life Is Art stresses that this is a show for real art lovers interested in learning more about and purchasing work from South Florida-based artists. "While there are many amazing fine contemporary artists practicing in south Florida, many collectors do not realize it. Not because of any lack on their part, but because of a lack of opportunities. How are they to find the new masters with so few chances to see them? The Life Is Art Summer Show and Celebration connects south Florida art lovers with South Florida artists."

Deadline is May 19 and accepted applicants will be notified by the end of May 26. There is no application fee but they're seeking works priced between $2,000 and $9,000 and a sales fee of 40 percent will be assessed for each sale. See more details on Life Is Art's site

Artists Haven Gallery in Fort Lauderdale is accepting entries for its 2012 International Photography Competition. Deadline is July 9 and details can be found on Artists Haven's website.

Stage 84 is asking artists who would like to be considered for future shows to submit press kits. Info for doing so can be found on Stage 84's website.

Tom Rossetti Fine Art is accepting submissions for Convergence, a competition juried by Sally Cooper, an abstract painter and instructor at Coral Springs Museum of Art. Entry fee is $20 and $10 for each additional entry and there are cash awards, Deadline for pre-registration is May 18.  Details are on Rossetti's website.

Artists Colony is a venue where artists can talk with each other about their visual art work  in a casual setting. The next meetup is at 6:30 p.m. May 25 at St. John's on the Lake, 4760 Pine Tree Drive, Miami Beach. Artists are asked to bring a completed or in-progress work on the topic "Childhood Revisited."
