Transcultural Pilgrim: Three Decades of Work by José Bedia is a major career retrospective featuring large-scale installations, paintings, and works on paper that reflect "the influence of indigenous cultures and religions from Cuba, North and South America, and Africa on the artist’s work." The exhibition opens with a reception that runs 6-9 p.m. May 23 (and costs $10 for non-members) and includes a 6:30 p.m. conversation between Bedia and exbhibition curator Judith Bettelheim, and runs through Sept, 2. A curator-led tour of the exhibition ($8 for non-members) will be held at 1 p.m. July 21, and public tours (free with museum admission will beheld at 2 p.m. each Sunday.

Vanessa Somers Vreeland, who was a traditional painter in Paris before she began experimenting with glass and working with fused glass mosaic techniques in marble and cold glass, will discuss her artistic process and the art of mosaics at 6:30 p.m. May 23.
