For Undergrounds Coffeehaus's next exhibition, follow the yellow brick road to the part of your brain reserved for ruby slippers, flying monkeys, lollipop kids, munchkins, scarecrows and cowardly lions. The theme is The Wizard of Oz and artists are asked to consider the book, movie or adaptations such as Wicked or the Tin Man Sci-Fi series. All mediums are welcome and those interested in submitting work for the Fort Lauderdale cafe's show should e-mail Aileen Liptak through Undergrounds Facebook page. The deadline is March 17 and the show will be held March 24.
Love Struck/Love Sucks is the theme of the next six-hour art party from artist Teresa Korber's Art Nouveau Events. The show will be held Feb. 22 at Respectable Street in West Palm Beach and will include a glass-blowing demo by Kiss My Glass, body painting by Devious Body Art, piercing by Shorty of Hellcat Tattoo, burlesque by Val Vampyre, music by Danxiety and art about being love struck or just how much love sucks. Awards will be issued for best in show, best new artist, best returning artist and best representation of the theme. The time to start thinking about South Florida Cultural Consortium is now. South Florida artists who have lived and worked n Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Martin or Monroe counties since at least October 2011 will be eligible to apply and artists must provide proof of residency before receiving an award of $7,500 or $15,000. The Lunch Box Gallery in Miami is seeking artists for iPhoneography: Updated Visual Dialogs, a show designed to "explore the social phenomenon of iPhoneography as a personal tool globally used to generate visual content, be shared and therefore, communicate." Artists 18 and up may submit one to three photos taken and edited on an iPhone in each $15 submission. They may enter more than once (with an additional $15 fee for every one to three images). 6th Street Container seeks local artists' experimental films and videos for screening at a film event that will happen every two months starting in September at its Little Havana venue. "We are coordinating with O Cinema for possible rotation and a yearly film festival," says founder Adalberto Delgado. This is ongoing so there is no deadline.
