Art of the Weekend

FAT Village Art Walk occurs on the last Saturday of every month and the Jan. 28 edition will run 7-11 p.m. and include Henning Haupt's The Return of the Magenta at The Projects-South (with an artist talk at 7 p.m.), as well as Silent Call From Haiti at The Projects, Janet M. Mueller's exhibition at Sheuat and Green Studio and a show at Rolling Stock Gallery. Also on exhibit is The Plight of Nature, billed as a show in which "six artists grapple with the complex and sometimes disturbing relationship between the modern world and nature." It will features works by Angelica Clyman, Cenigma, Louis Davis, Jean Minuchin, Bilyana Pesic and Sharon White at World and Eye Gallery.

Chick Flicks featuring Office Killer (1997),  a film written and directed by Cindy Sherman, is the latest Girls Club screening of "feature films and documentaries spotlighting cinematic treatments of female photographers." The event starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 with a screening of Scenic Jogging, a short film by local artist Jillian Mayer.

 Island Water Sports

Indie Craft Swell will feature DIY crafts, vendors including Peace Owls and Other Lovely Things and local artist Coma Girl, a children's crafting tent and a party where people can buy and customize shoes and have a second pair go to a needy child. Proceeds benefit Calvary Chapel's Human Trafficking Ministry. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 28.

Dinosaur Art Show, a show that Undergrounds Coffeehaus owner Aileen Liptak says is about "dinosaurs in a modern setting ... playing poker, using cell phones and eating cheeseburgers," will include music, movies and snacks, 8 p.m. Jan. 28.

Wynwood Green

Wynwood Green, a day of farmers markets, half-pipes and presentations by artists such as Nancy Martini who will speak and show some paintings at 2 p.m.) presented by 305 Green, I Am Your Villain, Ground Up Collective and WVUM, noon to 7 p.m. Jan. 29 and on the last Sunday of each month. At 7 p.m., the after-party begins inside Armory Studios with fashion sculpture by Wasabi Fashion Kult and performances by The Hongs, Efrain Laboy and KRISP.
